AFOZM Venice Biennale exhibition grant
USA support for In Minor Keys, Koyo Kouoh's curated exhibition for the 61st Venice Biennale

Supporters in the USA interested in contributing amounts below $25,000 may contribute to a 61st Venice Biennale Exhibition grant held by fiscal sponsor American Friends of Zeitz MOCAA. Koyo Kouoh (1967-2025) was the much beloved Executive Director and Chief Curator of Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa. American Friends of Zeitz MOCAA was founded in 2017 alongside the museum to direct advocacy and support to initiatives that aligned with Zeitz MOCAA’s mission and vision. A pinnacle career assignment was for Koyo Kouoh to curate the 2026 Venice Biennale exhibition. We believe that her exhibition needs to be supported to its utmost so that her selected team can see her exhibition through to its fullest potential. They include Siddhartha Mitter, Gabe Beckhurst Feijoo, Marie Hélène Pereira, Rasha Salti, and Rory Tsapayi.
Koyo Kouoh was the first African and first Black woman to be named Curator of the biennale exhibition. She themed her biennale In Minor Keys to pay homage to artists working close to life stating, “Artists are channels to and between the minor keys and listening to, rather than speaking for them is at the core of the curatorial concept.”

Individuals who would like to contribute to the Venice Biennale below the amount of $25,000 are invited to contribute to this grant. The proceeds of the collated grant will be disseminated to the Venice Biennale Foundation in January 2026 for the exhibition In Minor Keys.
*Kindly note contributing to the American Friends of Zeitz MOCAA grant does not entitle donors to benefits surrounding nor access to the Venice Biennale openings and activities. It does however give donor acknowledgement on the American Friends of Zeitz MOCAA Venice Biennale Grant page and related collateral.

American Friends of Zeitz MOCAA is a 501c3 and deductions are deductible to the extent allowed by US law.
